A visit to Louvre

Over the weekend, both Hakim and Nadia visited Louvre in Paris, to catch the latest exhibition on Greek Mythology. It was such a beautiful place to be, the lighting, the people, the air... (ouch! who pinced me?). Actually, its was at the National Museum of Singapore. It was the first time, the Greek masterpieces was brought out from Louvre and put on exhibition in South East Asia. So be proud Singaporean, for being the first. (OO...oo..OO...oo). The exhibition was able to immerse HaNa on the kind of society the Greeks used to live in.

The first part of the exhibition shows us, some of the great thinkers during that era, such as Alexander the Great. Next part was the roles of the man, woman and child in the Greek society. Man was considered at the top of the chain. Woman was to stay in the house making clothes for the family and given the children their early education on life. The interesting part that caught Hakim's attention was that, at that time, women shall not leave their house, unless veil or accompanied by a man. Which brings the issue of hijab. Finally, children was not given a name until they reached the age of 10. Partly due to the low survival rate among the children. 1 in every 2 babies will die and 1 in every 4 children will not reached the age of 9. The last part of the exhibition explores the world of Heroes, Gods and culture during that era. Both of them leave the museum with a big satisfaction on their face. Basically due to the feeling that, they have visited Louvre.
