Le Tour de Pasir Ris
Sunday, March 16, 2008

Singapore was proud to organize the 'Le Tour' series after Paris, France and Langkawi, Malaysia have organised it for many years. All attention was shift to the inaugural Le Tour De Pasir Ris at Pasir Ris Park. It was also history in the making when female racer took part in this inaugural race. Nur Syuhada aka Ada' berbau, was the proud winner of the Yellow jersey for the women category, Othman Bin Hassan aka Cik Man was the winner for the men category. The only hiccup that the organizer face was the start of the race was delayed, after a late entry by Sharif aka Sarip representing kampung dusun, from the men category. After that, the race was an entertaining one. Sharif was face with a setback when his bicycle face some technical problems, forcing him to change his bicycle. "Everything was going well, when I experienced a flat tyre," said Sarip. As for the female category, there was big scare at first when one of the racer, Mak Dira might went the wrong way. While all the action was taken place in the chasing pack, Ada' Berbau and Nur Hayati aka Kak Nur was battling for the first place. Hasani aka Sani Jalan Laju was initially leading the men category, when he accidentally, went for a pitstop, making way for Cik Man to overtake him.

"The strategy didn't go as what we plan. Well maybe next year we might eventually win the yellow jersey," a dejected Sani said. Overall it was a good race and an experience not to be missed.
